Hawaii to OK Civil Unions!!!!!

Hawaii's House of Legislature voted 31-20 in favor of same sex unions which will give same sex couples the same rights and benefits that heterosexual couples get in Hawaii. Now this bill has to pass over the desk and be signed by Republican Governor Linda Lingle. Her camp has advised us she hasn't said she would reject it or that she would sign it but will simply look at it very carefully. Hopefully this can be a VICTORY for Hawaii natives!!!! More updates will follow...

Another LGBT Center in Atlanta

Justin Zeigler
Justin  Zeigler, executive director of Atlanta Executive Network and Realtor Barb Rowland are currently on the quest to possibly open another LGBT Community Center here in Atlanta, GA. The community center is supposed to be a one-stop-shop for meeting space, office space, events, education, and career assistance. Of course being the type of person that I am who wants equal rights for all, feel that this would be a great asset to our community. When people come together who have common bonds, great things start to happen and I think for our community, the more people we get to come together as ONE the better. Hopefully this will also bridge the GAP that exist between gay people of different ethnicity's that is so apparent here in Atlanta. Bringing different gay cultures together is one of the things I am secretly trying to research....Does anyone else feel the same way?

Don't Be Jealous Of My Boogie Video Reveal

Bada Ba ba baaaa I'm loving it:

Lawmaker Deborah Mell to annouce her engagement

Illinois Lawmaker Deborah Mel, pictured on the left just announced her engagement to her partner of 6 years on April 10, 2010. The couple is set to marry in Iowa because it isn't legal to have registered civil unions in Illinois. Now, for someone who works in the legislation I know she is furious that she can't even get married in the same state in which she lives and represents. I commend her for coming out and being open about her life to the public. I believe that we need more people in high power positions to take note from Mell and be true to themselves and live their lives for themselves. BRAVO to the newly engaged couple BRAVO

Atlanta Gay Scene

Something has come across my desk and I thought I would share it with you all. I live in Atlanta, GA which is the most gay populated city in 2010 according to recent research. The Black Gay Community is something of a concern for most people here, rather that be amongst the LGBT community or the Hetero community. There concern is that most Black Gay Men are too feminine and it's disturbing for most people. Well I just have a few things to say on the matter. If you live in Atlanta, yes you will see lots of flamboyant gay men rather that be Black, White, Asian, Spanish, etc. So if you are wanting to get a variety of masculine men, then you are probably living in the wrong city. To me Atlanta is one where people can have freedom of expression in any form or fashion they choose. I personally think that there is a equal balance between masculine and feminine males here and I don't see it as a problem. Are straight women scared and jealous now a days? Do "Bottom" men think they are running out of options? Why is this such a big issue for people? More details on this subject are to come...

Do you have what it takes?

Do you have what it takes to be as fierce and fashion forward as RuPaul's new born's; Bebe Zahara Benet and Tyra Sanchez (The New Tyra)?
Well if so then maybe you need to be instructed by RuPaul's panel of Drag Queens in her up and coming new TV series called RuPaul's Drag U which will air on Logo this July. This will be a 60 minute show where everyday women can battle in many challenges to unleash their Diva side. Of course this show is a spin of from RuPaul's Drag Race which has also gotten the GREEN LIGHT for a third season. More updates to come!!!!!

Gay Marriage in Finland!!!!!! VICTORY

Reported from IceNews, Finland parliaments are scheduled to approve gay marriage next year. Apparently it is currently legal to have registered partnerships in Finland, which is something similar to our now civil unions. Of course this is great news for all of us to hear. It's funny how "some" other countries understand the meaning of civil rights but living here in the United States people still have small minds and are still scared and ignorant about what that word "RIGHTS"actually  mean. We can only hope for the best and keep pushing on in our daily struggles.

Obama has to be getting tired

There is going to be an organized rally in Washington DC on Sunday May 2, 2010 in DC's famous Lafayette Square to pressure President Obama to go to the Senate Armed Service Committee so he can REPEAL this Defense Authorization Bill. Personally I don't understand the problem. I understand that there are major issues that need to be looked at first, but if we have any chance of civility and equality, we need to come together and make these bigots aware and make them understand that we are not going anywhere, this isn't a lifestyle choice, this is something that is relevant, and we will no longer silence ourselves. So if you are going to be in the Washington area, please join in on the quest for equality or you can send an email to dadtrepeal@gmail.com..........

Openly Black Gay Male of the Month

Alvin Ailey,
"One of the premiere American dancers and choreographers of our time, Ailey is the founder of the The Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. His 1960 masterpiece Revalations is one of the most popular ballets performed in the 20th century. When Ailey died from AIDS in 1989, he asked that his doctor announce that he had died of terminal blood dyscrasia to save his mother -- who was always opposed to her son being gay."
