Gay Southern Pastor Reinstated
The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America 's Southeastern Synod just approved the reinstatement of Atlanta Gay Pastor Bradley E. Schmeling after he was removed from the clergy because of his relationship with his loving partner Rev. Darin Easler.
I believe this to be a look into our future and the positive outlook it holds in our churches. It has been said because of your homosexuality you can not serve God and serve others. Well today that has been proven wrong and I couldn't be happier for the couple and their congregations. BRAVO for keeping the faith, for staying in the fight, and hopefully for encouraging others to stay focused on the BIG PICTURE!

Is Steve Harvey a Real Man?
Ok, so I was listening to the Steve Harvey Morning Show on my way to work this morning as I normally do and as I was driving Steve Harvey was getting ready to introduce the "Brown Liqour" song of the day (forgot the name of the song). Anyway, it was about a man apologizing to his lady for the wrong that he has done. He was also expressing how he needed her in his life.
Well before the morning show played the song, Harvey made the comment "If you don't need a woman in your life, then you're not a real man"...WTF Steve. He did go on to say that he wasn't trying to diss others but I found that comment to be disrepectful and just plain RUDE.
So let me get this straight, because I am gay and like the same gender, I am not a real man???
hmmmm how does that sound?
Now I like Steve Harvey and the Morning Show but to me that is the thinking that is holding us back from our equality and our civil rights. I will say this, YES I am GAY, YES I like MEN AND TRUST ME when I tell you...I AM A MAN..
So I ask these questions, Are you a man because you have a woman in your life? Are you a man because you like men? Are you a man because you take care of your responsibilities, take care of yourself, others around you and act as an adult should?

The Church won't GIVE UP
Today, DC's court of Appeals will hear a challenge for marriage equality by leader Bishop Harry Jackson. As we all know, DC just approved same sex marriage a few months ago. I knew it would only be a matter of time before the *mean ole church folk* got together to dispute what is morally right; "Equality". I am really trying to understand why the Church has more authority then politicians. Personally I think they get to much attention.
Now I am a christian and I know my faith is strong and that my relationship with my creator is respectable and filled with love. Other peoples relationship with their creator is their business and no one Else's but I suppose the church folk just don't see that now.
We can only pray that they get educated on the way of the world..We should be hearing an update today at a out 2pm est.

Prayers for Silkie
According to sources, Silkie Ohara Monroe is no longer competing for Gay USofA this year. Monroe who was 1st runner up to winner Jayda Iman Alexander for Texas USofA was scheduled to compete for the national title next month in Dallas, TX. No one in the USofA pageantry system has spoken with her in over 2 months. Well I hope she is doing well and I hope where ever she is, she is getting mentally and phyically prepared for another pageant soon.
Much Luv Silkie!!!

Soldiers will keep Marching
On Sunday May 2, 2010 LGBT organization "GetEqual" protested in Lafayette Park in D.C. Alex Nicholson, a former member of our Armed Forces was outed 6 months after 911, fired as a member of our Military because of being outed and was asked by his First Sargent to keep QUIET and speak nothing of what was happening to him.
Nicholson delivered a great speech during this rally and I must say I feel his pain. It is still baffling that we can not be open and still serve our country. Take a look at the video!

Giving Back To Our Seniors
One of my main focus points with the LGBT community is to educate and hopefully inspire our youth. To get them to understand that there is more to our lifestyle then parties, sex, drugs, alcohol, fashion, etc. I really want to find a way to reach them in any way that I can. That is one of the reasons I started this blog.
Well I think people, including myself forget that we not only have to try and uplift our youth but we need to also realize that there were people here before us that paved the way for us to be who we are. I think we (not intentionally) forget that we have to give back and take care of our Senior LGBT community.
I came across this video and I have to say that it really touched my heart and made me realize there is so much more work that needs to be done with focusing on the need to have equal rights for all. Take a look at this video..Hopefully it'll touch your heart as it has mine.

Hawaii to OK Civil Unions!!!!!
Hawaii's House of Legislature voted 31-20 in favor of same sex unions which will give same sex couples the same rights and benefits that heterosexual couples get in Hawaii. Now this bill has to pass over the desk and be signed by Republican Governor Linda Lingle. Her camp has advised us she hasn't said she would reject it or that she would sign it but will simply look at it very carefully. Hopefully this can be a VICTORY for Hawaii natives!!!! More updates will follow...

Another LGBT Center in Atlanta
Justin Zeigler
Justin Zeigler, executive director of Atlanta Executive Network and Realtor Barb Rowland are currently on the quest to possibly open another LGBT Community Center here in Atlanta, GA. The community center is supposed to be a one-stop-shop for meeting space, office space, events, education, and career assistance. Of course being the type of person that I am who wants equal rights for all, feel that this would be a great asset to our community. When people come together who have common bonds, great things start to happen and I think for our community, the more people we get to come together as ONE the better. Hopefully this will also bridge the GAP that exist between gay people of different ethnicity's that is so apparent here in Atlanta. Bringing different gay cultures together is one of the things I am secretly trying to research....Does anyone else feel the same way?
Lawmaker Deborah Mell to annouce her engagement
Illinois Lawmaker Deborah Mel, pictured on the left just announced her engagement to her partner of 6 years on April 10, 2010. The couple is set to marry in Iowa because it isn't legal to have registered civil unions in Illinois. Now, for someone who works in the legislation I know she is furious that she can't even get married in the same state in which she lives and represents. I commend her for coming out and being open about her life to the public. I believe that we need more people in high power positions to take note from Mell and be true to themselves and live their lives for themselves. BRAVO to the newly engaged couple BRAVO

Atlanta Gay Scene
Something has come across my desk and I thought I would share it with you all. I live in Atlanta, GA which is the most gay populated city in 2010 according to recent research. The Black Gay Community is something of a concern for most people here, rather that be amongst the LGBT community or the Hetero community. There concern is that most Black Gay Men are too feminine and it's disturbing for most people. Well I just have a few things to say on the matter. If you live in Atlanta, yes you will see lots of flamboyant gay men rather that be Black, White, Asian, Spanish, etc. So if you are wanting to get a variety of masculine men, then you are probably living in the wrong city. To me Atlanta is one where people can have freedom of expression in any form or fashion they choose. I personally think that there is a equal balance between masculine and feminine males here and I don't see it as a problem. Are straight women scared and jealous now a days? Do "Bottom" men think they are running out of options? Why is this such a big issue for people? More details on this subject are to come...
