Illinois Lawmaker Deborah Mel, pictured on the left just announced her engagement to her partner of 6 years on April 10, 2010. The couple is set to marry in Iowa because it isn't legal to have registered civil unions in Illinois. Now, for someone who works in the legislation I know she is furious that she can't even get married in the same state in which she lives and represents. I commend her for coming out and being open about her life to the public. I believe that we need more people in high power positions to take note from
Mell and be true to themselves and live their lives for themselves. BRAVO to the newly engaged couple BRAVO
